Three 6 Mafia Rapper Gangsta Boo Dies From Drug Overdose

The music industry lost another talented musician as rapper Gangsta Boo died on January 1, 2023, from an accidental drug overdose. According to an autopsy report obtained by Fox 13, the rapper had fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol in her system at the time of her death. She was only 43.

Just a day before her sudden death, Gangsta Boo attended a Memphis gig with her brother, who was also hospitalized due to an overdose. Thankfully, he was able to recover. The “Sippin on Some Syrup” rapper’s death was confirmed by DJ Paul K.O.M, her label-mate, who posted a tribute photo of her deejaying on Instagram.

Gangsta Boo, whose real name was Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, was the second female member of Three 6 Mafia. After joining the group in the 1990s, she left in the early 2000s to release her solo album and numerous mixtapes. She was featured in songs by famous rappers such as Gucci Mane, OutKast, Latto, and The Game. More recently, she began working with music outlets like Uproxx to put out new music and performances. In early December, she posted a live session video of “I’m Fresh” in partnership with the publication.

Gangsta Boo was well-known for her accomplishments in the music industry. Hours before her death, she shared an Instagram video, where she gushed over her 2022 achievements, writing, “Some of the things that I did in 2022! So fun and productive, climbed out my shell alot!! 2023 go be 23’n! #JORDAN #BOOPRINT #recap Happy New 2023 everyone!”

The rapper’s death is a tragic loss to the music community, and her fans are mourning her passing. Gangsta Boo was working on a new project titled “The BooPrint” that she planned to release in 2023. Unfortunately, her untimely passing cut short her ambitious plans.
