The Unlikely Collaboration: Crazy Frog and Axel Foley Join Forces Once Again

In a surprising turn of events, Netflix has brought back Axel Foley for another onscreen adventure, this time teaming him up with the nostalgic figure of Crazy Frog. Crazy Frog, a Swedish CGI-animated Eurodance character created in 2003, seems like an unlikely companion for the iconic detective portrayed by Eddie Murphy, especially considering the time gap between their respective debuts.

Despite the apparent randomness of the pairing, Erik Wernquist, the creator of Crazy Frog, noted that he and Axel Foley have actually been an iconic duo since 2005. This claim is backed up by the success of Crazy Frog’s 2005 cover of the original Beverly Hills Cop theme song, ‘Axel F’, which topped the charts across Europe. Now, with a new music video collaboration, the duo is back in the spotlight once again.

New Additions to the Franchise

Not only is Crazy Frog making a comeback alongside Axel Foley, but the franchise is also seeing a new addition in the form of a fourth installment now available on Netflix. Lil Nas X, the Grammy Award-winning artist, sampled the iconic ‘Axel F’ theme song for his track ‘Here We Go!’ featured in the latest movie. Both Murphy and Lil Nas X expressed their excitement and emotional connection to the project, with Lil Nas X even admitting to some apprehension about being accepted by fans of the original.

Eddie Murphy reprises his role as Axel Foley, the Detroit-born cop, in the much-anticipated Netflix sequel, marking his return to the beloved character after the previous films released in the 80s and 90s. Alongside Murphy, familiar faces such as Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot also make a comeback. The newest installment of the franchise sees Foley teaming up with a new partner, Detective Bobby Abbott, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, to protect his daughter from a dangerous threat.

The unexpected collaboration between Crazy Frog and Axel Foley adds a fresh and unique twist to the beloved franchise of Beverly Hills Cop. With new music, new characters, and a blend of old and new elements, the latest installment promises to reignite the excitement and nostalgia of fans while introducing a new generation to the iconic duo.
