On April 22, Fanjul was arrested at his home in Palm Beach, Florida, after his girlfriend called the authorities claiming that he “tackled her to the ground.” The couple had been drinking earlier at a sushi restaurant when Fanjul made vulgar statements about prior incidents between them. The situation escalated, and the woman went inside Fanjul’s home to retrieve her handbag before calling an Uber. It was at this moment that Fanjul allegedly charged at her, tackled her to the ground, and refused to let her leave.
The woman fought back, elbowing and kneeing Fanjul in self-defense. She managed to retrieve her phone and call the police while running outside screaming. Cops noted that she had an injured nail and an abrasion on her arm. She revealed that Fanjul had a history of unreported physical violence against her, often restraining her.
Fanjul, on the other hand, claimed that he was upset because the woman called their relationship “boring.” He grabbed her handbag and her phone, alleging that she had incriminating videos of him. It is important to note that this is only Fanjul’s side of the story.
After being handcuffed and placed in a patrol car, Fanjul began experiencing difficulty breathing and requested medical attention. He was taken to the hospital before being transported to the County Jail. The woman, however, refused medical attention. Fanjul was ultimately charged with felony Domestic Battery for Strangulation, False Imprisonment, Robbery, Tampering with or Harassing Victim, Criminal Mischief, and possession of cocaine.
This is not the first time Fanjul has faced allegations of domestic violence. While dating socialite Tinsley Mortimer, who later appeared on “The Real Housewives of New York City,” he was previously accused of domestic violence. Although Mortimer did not press charges, there were incidents where Fanjul allegedly smothered her with a pillow and pushed her head to the pavement. Police were also called to a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale for a domestic violence incident in 2014.
It is evident that Fanjul has a troubling pattern of engaging in violent behavior towards his partners.
