The Success of Czech Drama Series “Extractors” Continues with Season Two

The Czech drama series “Extractors” has made waves with its unique concept of following a team of agents carrying out rescue missions to bring back individuals held captive abroad. Inspired by real-life incidents, the first season focused on the kidnapping of two Czech women in southwest Pakistan. Now, with the success of the initial season, the show is gearing up for a second run that promises to delve into another gripping story of survival and espionage.

As co-creator and Voyo executive Lenka Szántó revealed during the NEM Dubrovnik event in Croatia, the team is already working on the next season of “Extractors.” With early scripts underway, the upcoming season will draw inspiration from a headline-grabbing case. Season 2 will see the team of extractors embarking on missions in Colombia, Libya, and Lebanon, adding an element of international intrigue to the series.

One of the key factors that set “Extractors” apart is its commitment to authenticity. Szántó emphasized that the show aims to portray the world of espionage realistically, steering away from glamorous portrayals of agents like James Bond or Jason Bourne. The team behind the series brought in an investigative journalist and a real-life spy as consultants to ensure that the narrative resonated with the actual experiences of agents in the field.

The success of “Extractors” has not gone unnoticed on the international stage. Keshet International, an established player in the global television market, acquired the rights for international distribution. Anke Stoll, SVP of Acquisitions and Coproductions at Keshet International, praised the series for its thrilling narrative and nuanced depiction of the characters. She noted that the show’s strong production values and compelling human drama were major factors in her decision to bring it to the global audience.

As “Extractors” gains traction among viewers, it has found a place in Keshet’s lineup of content for international buyers. The show was showcased at the London Screenings, and the team behind its distribution plans to continue promoting it at major television markets like MIPCOM Cannes. With its blend of espionage, suspense, and human emotion, “Extractors” is poised to capture the attention of audiences worldwide and establish itself as a standout Czech drama series.
