Audra McDonald: The Grand Marshal
The 2024 Rose Parade has chosen Audra McDonald, a renowned Broadway star, as its Grand Marshal. McDonald’s selection embodies the parade’s theme, “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language.” Her exceptional talent and ability to connect with audiences through music make her the perfect representative for this event.

City of Hope, an esteemed cancer research and treatment center, will feature an extraordinary float titled “A Lovely Day for Hope.” This 50-foot-long masterpiece, designed by the Phoenix Decorating Company, stands tall at nearly 22 feet. The float’s centerpiece is a vibrantly adorned carousel, symbolizing the cyclical nature of life and City of Hope’s continuous evolution in cancer care. Joining the float will be eight cancer survivors, together with their doctors, spreading a message of resilience and hope.
A Tribute to Newport Beach
Another highlight of the parade is the participation of the city of Newport Beach. Their 165-foot-long float titled “Jingle on the Waves” pays homage to the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. This impressive float combines five floats, intricately linked together, to showcase iconic symbols of Newport Beach such as the Fun Zone Ferris Wheel and the Balboa Pavilion. To add a touch of regality, five former Rose Queens from Newport Beach will grace the float with their presence.
