The Evolution of Millie Bobby Brown: Developing “Nineteen Steps” for Netflix

Millie Bobby Brown, the young breakout star of Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things,” is taking her talents to the next level. Sources have revealed that she is currently in the process of developing a feature adaptation of her debut novel, “Nineteen Steps,” for the streaming platform. This project not only showcases her acting skills but also her interest in producing, as she will be handling production duties under her PCMA banner.

“Nineteen Steps” is a WWII novel based on the experiences of Brown’s own grandmother. The story follows Nellie Morris, an 18-year-old girl living in East London during the war. Nellie must navigate the challenges of wartime life, including bombings, rationing, and the emotional turmoil of being separated from loved ones. The novel also delves into Nellie’s new romance with an American airman, Ray, against the backdrop of the Bethnal Green Tube disaster, a tragic event that claimed the lives of 173 people during an air raid.

In addition to her production role, Brown is also slated to star in the film adaptation of “Nineteen Steps.” Four-time Oscar nominee Anthony McCarten, known for his work on films like “The Theory of Everything,” will be adapting the screenplay. Jonathan Eirich will produce for Rideback, with Nick Reynolds serving as the executive producer.

Brown rose to fame with her portrayal of Eleven in “Stranger Things,” which has garnered her critical acclaim and multiple award nominations. Her success on the small screen has translated to the big screen, with roles in Netflix’s “Enola Holmes” films and blockbusters like “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” and “Godzilla vs. Kong.” Brown’s upcoming project, “The Electric State,” sees her starring alongside Chris Pratt in a highly anticipated Netflix flick.

Rideback, the production company behind successful films like “Aladdin” and “The LEGO Movie” franchises, is at the helm of bringing “Nineteen Steps” to life. With a track record of box office hits, Rideback is a powerhouse in the film industry and is currently working on Disney’s new “Lilo & Stitch” film.

As Millie Bobby Brown expands her horizons from acting to producing and developing her own projects, “Nineteen Steps” stands as a testament to her creativity and ambition.
