Stan Unveils 25-Strong Slate of Originals and Acquisitions

Stan, the Australian streaming platform, has just announced a major expansion of its content library with a 25-strong slate of new originals and acquisitions. This move comes as part of Stan’s ongoing efforts to stay competitive in Australia’s rapidly growing streaming market.

One of the key highlights of Stan’s new slate is “Critical Incident,” a psychological crime thriller from Matchbox Pictures. The show, set in the Western suburbs of Sydney, promises to delve deep into the complex world of policing and its impact on the most vulnerable members of society. With a stellar cast that includes Akshay Khanna, Zoë Boe, and Jai Waetford, “Critical Incident” is poised to be a must-watch series when it premieres later this year.

In addition to “Critical Incident,” Stan is also adding new original series like “Sunny Nights” and “Watching You” to its lineup. “Sunny Nights” follows the story of two siblings trying to make it big in the spray tan business, only to find themselves entangled in Sydney’s criminal underworld. Meanwhile, “Watching You” is a gripping tale of a woman’s quest to uncover a voyeur who threatens to ruin her life after a one-night stand goes awry.

New Acquisitions and Returning Favorites

Stan is not only focusing on originals but also beefing up its library with new acquisitions like “Nightsleeper,” “Joan,” and “Red Eye” from the UK, as well as forthcoming Starz shows “Spartacus: House of Ashur” and “Hunting Wives.” The streaming platform is also bringing back fan-favorite series like “Black Snow” and “Bump” for new seasons, alongside hits like “Poker Face” and “Ten Pound Poms.”

Aside from scripted content, Stan is also venturing into the world of sports documentaries with “Trailblazers,” a series that focuses on Australia’s women’s national soccer team, the Matildas. With the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on the horizon, “Trailblazers” will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the team’s journey to the global stage.

Global Collaborations and Local Talent

Stan’s latest slate reflects a commitment to showcasing both local and international talent, with partnerships with major studios like Universal International Studios, AMC, and Paramount. The streaming platform’s CEO, Martin Kugeler, emphasized the importance of investing in Australian originals while also bringing in popular global hits to cater to a diverse audience.

Stan’s impressive lineup of originals and acquisitions demonstrates its dedication to providing viewers with a wide range of content options. With a mix of thrilling dramas, dark comedies, and insightful documentaries, Stan is clearly positioning itself as a major player in the competitive streaming landscape. As the platform continues to grow and evolve, audiences can expect even more exciting releases and collaborations in the future.
