The friend’s mom excitedly exclaimed, “‘We’re going to see Rachel on Broadway! And she’s going to be singing and dancing!'” However, the confusion was quickly clarified when McAdams’s friend pointed out that she was actually starring in Mary Jane, not The Notebook musical.
Mary Jane, directed by Anne Kauffman, commenced previews on April 2 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre under the Manhattan Theatre Club production. On the other hand, The Notebook musical is currently running at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Despite her commitments to Mary Jane, McAdams expressed her eagerness to watch The Notebook musical after her play concludes its limited run in June. She admitted, “I can’t wait to see it. I think it’s so exciting to see it take on a whole other life like this; it blows my mind.”
