In an exclusive report, it has been revealed that the renowned UK indies, Triple Brew and Betty, will be merged by All3Media’s Objective Media Group. This consolidation will result in the creation of a new, yet-to-be-named single label. The restructuring of Objective’s unscripted business will bring together the combined slate of the prodcos, which includes popular shows like The Cube, Lingo, Wheeler Dealers, and various Bear Grylls series. Consequently, the well-known Betty and Triple Brew labels will be dissolved as a result of this merger.
Unfortunately, this restructuring process is expected to lead to job losses within the companies. With the consolidation of Triple Brew and Betty into a single entity, there will be significant changes in the organizational structure which may result in redundancies. This news of job losses adds to the challenges faced by the UK production sector, where channels are cutting back on spending and securing new commissions has become increasingly difficult.
Objective Media Group is home to a diverse range of indie labels specializing in scripted, factual, and entertainment content. As one of the leading production groups in the UK, Objective has multiple bases across the country and an office in Los Angeles. Owned by All3Media, Objective has been a prominent player in the industry since 2007.
Betty TV, which was acquired by All3Media in 2017, has been known for producing hit shows such as Wheeler Dealers, The Undateables, and Bear’s Mission With. Led by David Harrison and Helen Cooke, Betty has also worked on programs featuring celebrities like Fred Sirieix and Gino D’Acampo.
On the other hand, Triple Brew Media, a quiz and gameshow-focused production company, was established in 2019. Led by Ben Shephard, Becca Walker, and Ed De Burgh, Triple Brew has created popular shows like Lingo and The Cube, along with Picture Slam hosted by Alan Carr. The US version of Lingo, hosted by Rupaul Charles, is set to premiere on CBS later this month.
Strategic Restructure
A spokesperson from Objective Media Group confirmed the news of the merger between Betty and Triple Brew, citing it as a strategic restructure across their unscripted labels. This consolidation marks a significant shift in the company’s operations, with established labels being combined to create a more streamlined production process. As the industry continues to evolve and face challenges, companies like Objective are adapting to ensure their sustainability and competitiveness in the market.
