The latest original drama from African streaming platform Showmax, titled “The Fix,” is set to open MIP Africa this year. The sci-fi drama, written and directed by Kelsey Egan, takes place in a dystopian future Cape Town where the air is toxic. The story follows a model, played by Grace van Dien, who undergoes a shocking transformation after taking a new designer drug at a party. She soon discovers that her mutations could potentially save the human race. The cast includes well-known actors such as Daniel Sharman, Clancy Brown, and Nicole Fortuin.
“The Fix” had its world premiere in June at the Chattanooga Film Festival in Tennessee. This marks the second feature film from director Kelsey Egan, whose debut movie “Glasshouse” was also released on Showmax. The new drama is set to debut on MultiChoice streamer Showmax on October 31 and will be available for international sales through The Exchange.

MIP Africa is an offshoot of MIPCOM, and the event will take place from September 2-4 in Cape Town. The opening of MIP Africa by “The Fix” marks the third consecutive year that a Showmax original has debuted at the event.
