Netflix Announces Cast for Squid Game Season 2 and Preview of Squid Game: The Challenge

During the Tudum global fan event in São Paulo, Brazil, Netflix announced the cast for Squid Game Season 2. The show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, will be returning to direct and executive produce the sophomore season of the series. The first season of Squid Game debuted on Netflix on September 17, 2021, and became a global phenomenon. The series holds the title of Netflix’s most-watched series ever, with over 1.65 billion viewing hours in 28 days and reaching 111 million accounts.

Returning Cast Members

Lee Jung-jae will be reprising his role as Gi-hun in Squid Game Season 2. Lee Byung-hun will also be returning as Front Man, and Wi Ha-jun will revisit the character of police detective Jun-ho. Gong Yoo will also be coming back to the series.

New Cast Members

New players joining the game are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun. Yim Si-wan is known for his roles in Unlocked, Kang Ha-Neul in Midnight Runners, Park Sung-hoon in The Glory and Yang Dong-geun in Yaksha: Ruthless Operations. Preview of Squid Game: The Challenge

During Tudum, Netflix also previewed Squid Game: The Challenge, the competition show inspired by the series. The competition will feature 456 players vying for a $4.56M cash prize, which is the largest prize for a reality series. The ten-part series will see contestants competing in a series of games inspired by the show, as well as some new ones. Their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.

Netflix’s Squid Game has captured the attention of viewers worldwide and has become a cultural phenomenon.
