Legendary Musician Quincy Jones Hospitalized After Bad Reaction to Food

Quincy Jones, the 90-year-old multi-Grammy Award-winning musician, was rushed to the hospital on Saturday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency. According to his representative who spoke to TMZ on Sunday, Jones had a bad reaction to some food he ate, prompting him to call 911. The paramedics were called to his home in Los Angeles, and Jones was transported to the emergency room. However, his representative stated that he never lost consciousness and was in great spirits after being cleared by the doctors.

A representative for Jones has not yet provided a comment on the matter to Page Six.

Jones, a renowned composer, has had several health issues throughout his life. In 1974, he had a life-threatening brain aneurysm that required two surgeries and left him with six steel pins in his head. In his 2018 documentary, “Quincy,” Jones spoke about his experience with trauma to the brain, saying, “I actually had two brain aneurysms. So I guess I would classify as having some experience with trauma to the brain. Also, my mother suffered from mental illness. She was a brilliant woman who spoke several languages and had degrees from several colleges, but she had this condition that debilitated her, which today could’ve been controlled with medication. But at the time, during the Depression, they simply would commit you.”

Jones’ mother, Sarah Jones, suffered from schizophrenia and dementia and was taken away in a straight-jacket when he was seven years old. When Oprah asked him what he learned from his previous struggles in life, Jones responded, “The same thing the brain operation taught me: that you have to tell the people you care about how much you care about them. Just let it all out. I was so happy to be alive.”

This is not the first time Jones has been hospitalized. In 2015, he was rushed to the hospital after falling ill with chest pains and shortness of breath at his Bel Air home. However, his representative assured Page Six at that time that Jones was fine and had only gone in for observation as a precautionary measure.

Quincy Jones, the legendary musician, was hospitalized after suffering a bad reaction to some food he ate. Although he has had several health issues throughout his life, he has always bounced back and is expected to make a full recovery once again.
