Korean Series Pyramid Game Set to Shine at Series Mania

Korean content has been gaining significant attention in the global entertainment industry, and one series that is set to make its mark is Pyramid Game. This thrilling series will be the only Korean title featured at Series Mania, with its European premiere taking place in the ‘Special Screenings’ section.

Pyramid Game revolves around a brutal survival game at Baekyeon Girls High School, where students are categorized as attackers, victims, and bystanders, leading to a descent into the violence of survival. Based on the popular Naver webtoon created by Dalgonyak, the series is set to premiere on TVING in Korea on February 29 before its global release on Paramount+ later this year.

According to a Series Mania representative, Pyramid Game stands out among revenge-themed series by tackling the issue of school violence through the lens of game rules. The series is praised for its intricately designed plots and psychological battles between characters, offering a blend of school drama, thriller elements, and social criticism.

Co-produced by Film Monster and CJ ENM STUDIOS, Pyramid Game is part of a larger collaboration between Paramount+ and CJ ENM, resulting in a total of seven Korean originals being commissioned. Alongside Pyramid Game, other titles like Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard, and Dreaming of Cinde Fxxxing Rella were part of this initiative to expand Paramount+’s Korean originals slate.

While some of the commissioned titles like Yonder, Bargain, and A Bloody Lucky Day are already available on Paramount+ globally, Pyramid Game and other upcoming series like Queen Woo are set to premiere later this year. Series Mania, taking place in Lille, France from March 15 to 22, will provide a platform for Pyramid Game to showcase its unique storytelling and thematic depth to a global audience.

Korean content, particularly series like Pyramid Game, is making its mark on the international stage by offering fresh perspectives, compelling storytelling, and unique cultural insights. With its premiere at Series Mania and global release on Paramount+, Pyramid Game is poised to captivate audiences worldwide and further elevate the reputation of Korean entertainment in the global market.
