Is a Modern Family Reboot in the Works? Sofia Vergara Opens Up

Sofia Vergara, known for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the hit sitcom Modern Family, recently appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss the possibility of a reboot. Speculation arose after the actress shared a photo on social media with her former co-stars ahead of the holidays. Fallon wasted no time in asking Vergara if it was time for a reunion, to which she responded, “No, it’s only been four years.” It seems that Vergara believes more time is needed before considering a comeback.

When Fallon inquired about the waiting period for a reboot, Vergara candidly admitted, “I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem right. I feel like we need a little bit more time.” She playfully added, “Well, we don’t have much time because Ed [O’Neill] is old.” It appears that Vergara is considering the aging factor of the cast members, especially O’Neill. However, she did express interest in doing a holiday special and asked Fallon to produce it.

Vergara revealed that she maintains contact with all of the cast members through a group chat. This implies that the bond among the Modern Family stars remains strong even after the show’s conclusion. However, it seems that O’Neill struggles to keep up with the constant communication due to his aversion to texting. Vergara humorously disclosed that he often takes up to 26 weeks to reply to messages, causing them to forget the original conversation topic by then.

Modern Family, a beloved 20th Television-produced show, aired on ABC from 2009 to 2020, spanning an impressive 11 seasons. With 250 episodes produced, it undoubtedly left its mark on television history. Alongside Vergara and O’Neill, the series featured an exceptional ensemble cast including Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons.

As news of a potential Modern Family reboot circulates, fans are undoubtedly excited at the prospect of reuniting with their favorite characters. However, it appears that Vergara’s hesitation stems from the belief that more time is needed before attempting to recreate the magic of the original series. The success of a reboot largely depends on the chemistry and timing of the cast members, as well as the ability to captivate audiences once again.

Sofia Vergara’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show provided insights into the possibility of a Modern Family reboot. While fans may be eager for a reunion, Vergara emphasizes the need for more time before considering such a venture. The enduring bond between the cast members and the show’s remarkable legacy are undeniable, and any attempt to revive the beloved series must be approached with careful consideration. Until then, fans will have to patiently wait and cherish the memories created by Modern Family’s 11-season run.
