Hailee Steinfeld Wants to Produce Challenging Content

Hailee Steinfeld, Academy Award-nominated actress, multi-platinum recording musician, and producer, expressed her desire to produce more content that challenges her in a way she has not been challenged before. She stated this during a conversation with actress Ayo Edebiri at the Tribeca Festival’s Storytellers series. Steinfeld’s first producing assignment was for Apple TV+’s Dickinson, in which she also starred. The role earned her a 2020 Peabody Award. Steinfeld reprised her role as Spider-Gwen in Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse, which was recently released, and she also lent her voice to the movie.

Steinfeld wants to produce something in which she does not appear to understand the role in its entirety. Her goal is to challenge herself and develop her skills beyond acting. The actress was nominated for an Academy Award at the age of 14 in 2011 for her performance in the 2010 film True Grit. She made her Marvel live-action debut with Disney+’s Hawkeye series in 2021. Steinfeld played archer extraordinaire Kate Bishop, who is a self-appointed protégé to Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye/Clint Barton.

Steinfeld’s Experience with Voiceover Work

Steinfeld spoke about her experience with voiceover work on Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse during the conversation. Steinfeld reprised her role as Spider-Gwen, and she also recorded the movie with Shameik Moore, Issa Rea, and Shea Wigham. She stated that recording the second installment was a lot easier than the first one because she had more confidence and understood the process.

Steinfeld admired the dedication of the Spider-Verse directors and their attention to perfecting the movie until the very last second. She praised the directors for their willingness to keep improving on what they have done. Steinfeld revealed that normally, actors do their part and only hear from the director once or twice during post-production. However, going back again and again and again is an opportunity to keep improving on what has been done, according to Steinfeld.
