Fundraising Screening of Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back Supports Motion Picture Community

The Will Rogers Picture Pioneers Foundation is organizing a special screening of Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back on August 30th at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. This event aims to raise funds for its charity, which provides support to various national health and social service programs, as well as financial assistance to members of the motion picture community in times of need.

The 501st Legion, an international costuming organization operated by dedicated Star Wars fans, will make a special appearance at the screening. Known for their commitment to supporting communities, moviegoers, and charitable causes nationwide, the 501st Legion is thrilled to collaborate with the Will Rogers Picture Pioneers Foundation to make this evening truly memorable.

Christina Blumer, the Executive Director of Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, expressed her gratitude to the historic TCL Chinese Theatre for their generous support. Blumer also highlighted the importance of raising much-needed funds for members of the community during a time of increasing need. She added that the collaboration with the 501st Legion will create a fun and magical evening that movie enthusiasts won’t want to miss.

In addition to the screening, it was announced that the late MGM Distribution Chief, Erik Lomis, will receive the posthumous Pioneer of the Year Award on October 4th at the Beverly Hilton. Lomis, who was a longtime fundraiser for the Will Rogers Picture Pioneers Foundation, will be honored for his dedication and contributions to the motion picture community.

Tickets for the Empire Strikes Back charity screening are priced at $40. The ticket includes complimentary popcorn, a bottle of water or small soda, and the opportunity to take photos with the characters present. Attendees will also have the chance to receive a Funko – POP! Star Wars bobblehead. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation.

The film generated a lifetime domestic gross of $292.7 million and a global gross of $538.3 million. The team responsible for the visual effects, Brian Johnson, Richard Edlund, Dennis Muren, and Bruce Nicholson, also received a special achievement statuette.
