Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, the highly anticipated sequel to the action thriller, Den of Thieves, has recently completed its cast. The film has brought on board 11 international talents to star alongside the returning lead actors Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. This exciting new line-up includes Salvatore Esposito, Orli Shuka, Evin Ahmad, Cristian Solimeno, Nazmiye Oral, Yasen Zates Atour, Giuseppe Schillaci, Dino Kelly, Rico Verhoeven, Velibor Topic, and Antonio Bustorff.
A Sequel Building on Previous Success
Den of Thieves, released in 2018, was a thrilling story of a group of ex-Marines planning to rob the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles, with Detective Nick “Big Nick” O’Brien (played by Gerard Butler) leading the team trying to stop them. The film grossed nearly $45 million domestically and over $80 million worldwide. Building on this success, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, written and directed by Christian Gudegast, takes the story to the mean streets of Europe.
The new film follows Detective Nick “Big Nick” O’Brien’s pursuit of Donnie Wilson (played by O’Shea Jackson Jr.), who has become involved with the dangerous Panther mafia and the world of diamond thieves. As the infamous Panther mafia plans a massive heist of the world’s biggest diamond exchange, Big Nick finds himself on their trail on the streets of Europe.
The addition of these 11 international talents to the cast brings a diverse range of actors to the film. Salvatore Esposito, known for his role in the Italian crime drama Gomorrah and the fourth season of Fargo, will join the cast. Orli Shuka, seen in the series Gangs of London and Save Me, as well as the feature thriller Hyena, will also be part of the ensemble.
Evin Ahmad, known for her role in the forthcoming Netflix series Who Is Erin Carter? and the dramedy Call Mom!, adds her talent to the cast, while Cristian Solimeno brings his experience from films such as Love and The Glass Man, which he wrote and directed, and his appearances in the series Footballers’ Wives.
The cast also includes Nazmiye Oral, who has worked on projects including In Vrijheid, Flikken Maastricht, and Propaganda; Yasen Zates Atour, known for his roles in Small City, All the Devil’s Men, and The Witcher; and Giuseppe Schillaci, making his feature debut with Den of Thieves 2 after his work in the series Romulus.
Other cast members include Dino Kelly, recognized for his roles in Peaky Blinders, The Good Liar, and Invasion; Rico Verhoeven, an accomplished kickboxing champion who has appeared in films like Black Lotus and Kickboxer: Retaliation; Velibor Topic, known for his credits in Snatch, Kingdom of Heaven, and British TV dramas; and Antonio Bustorff, a martial artist whose previous works include Angel Has Fallen and Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
Production and Distribution
The principal photography for Den of Thieves 2: Pantera wrapped up on July 5th, just over a week before the launch of the SAG-AFTRA strike. The film is produced by Tucker Tooley of Tucker Tooley Entertainment, Gerard Butler and Alan Siegel of G-BASE, and Mark Canton. Executive producers for the film are Greg Renker and Philip Waley.
Entertainment One and Tucker Tooley Entertainment financed the film, while U.S. distribution will be handled by Briarcliff Entertainment.
