Cafeteria Celebrates 25th Anniversary with New York Legends and Drag Queens

One of Chelsea’s most popular restaurants, Cafeteria, celebrated its 25th anniversary on Thursday night with a star-studded event. The night was filled with New York legends, drag queens, ice cream trucks, and beats by DJ Lina Bradford. The restaurant, which has been a favourite for stars such as Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez, was packed with people from 6 p.m. until midnight.

Guests were treated to some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes, such as mac ‘n’ cheese, sliders, and tuna tartare. The party was held indoors and outdoors, where servers passed around cocktails, and guests enjoyed the evening’s entertainment.

Famous Faces and Memorable Moments

The event was attended by a number of famous faces, including Ann Dexter-Jones, The Blonds, Phillip Bloch, Malcolm Harris, Brian Atwood, model Victoria Brito, Renee Cox, photographer Rose Hartman, Jose Xtravaganza, and “Good Day New York” weatherman Mike Woods. New York nightlife legends like Dianne Brill, Walt Cassidy, and Joey Arias were also in attendance.

Cafeteria has been the location for some memorable moments, including scenes from “Sex and the City.” Female impersonator Carrie Dragshaw entertained the crowd during the anniversary celebration. Interestingly, “SATC” star Kim Cattrall was just up the street attending the Tribeca Festival premiere of the show’s costume designer Pat Field’s documentary, “Happy Clothes.”

The night wasn’t without a bit of drama, as one partygoer narrowly avoided injury when a shelf at the bar fell and shattered next to them. The loud music caused the accident, which led the guest to order a fresh cocktail out of fear of swallowing glass.

On Friday, Mario Cantone inadvertently celebrated the restaurant’s anniversary by posting one of his favourite scenes from the show featuring Cantone, Kristin Davis, and the late Willie Garson at Cafeteria.

Overall, the anniversary celebration was a night to remember for the restaurant and its guests. Cafeteria has been a staple of the Chelsea community for 25 years and continues to be a popular destination for locals and celebrities alike.
