Director Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on “Top Gun: Maverick,” is staying true to his roots by incorporating real-life race cars in his upcoming untitled F1 racing film starring Brad Pitt. Sources have confirmed that scenes from the Apple Studios movie will be shot during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone race track on Sunday. The collaboration with F1 has also resulted in the casting of Damson Idris and Kerry Condon in the film. Interestingly, not only will the actors be filming scenes during the actual race, but they will also have their own pit stop at the track.
Inspiration from “Top Gun: Maverick”
Kosinski drew inspiration from his summer blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick,” where he had his actors in the cockpit of real fighter jets. He wanted to replicate a similar experience for his latest film. Deadline had previously reported that Idris had to showcase his driving skills on a race track to secure the role of Pitt’s teammate in the movie. Since landing the role, Idris has been diligently preparing on the track in anticipation of filming.
Excitement Builds Among the Team
During a press conference on Thursday, Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 champion and a producer of the film, expressed his excitement about the project coming together. Hamilton mentioned that there were natural nerves as they were about to start filming after months of preparation. The anticipation and dedication of the team are evident as they look forward to capturing the essence of F1 racing on the big screen.
