Bebe Rexha Stands Up Against Body Shamers

Bebe Rexha, the popular American singer-songwriter, has taken to Twitter to call out body shamers who have been making comments about her weight gain. She expressed her frustration on June 23, four days after being attacked on stage, saying “I know I got fat. I’m just so sick of people talking about it. NEXT!!!!!”. She further added that people go through weight fluctuations, and it is a part of life. She also acknowledged that there could be various reasons for weight gain, such as medication or disease, and thanked all her supporters.

Bebe Rexha has been open about her struggles with body image, including her diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome, which caused her to gain around 30 pounds. She has previously said that being in the public eye means that negative comments are inevitable, and while she is not mad about it, it can be tough when people make assumptions without knowing the full story.

Bebe Rexha’s recent comments come after she returned to the stage after suffering an injury from a cell phone thrown at her while performing on June 18. The singer shared pictures of her black eye and the bandage covering the stitches she had to have after being hit directly in the face by the phone. In the video footage shared by fans online, Bebe stumbled back from the impact, before walking away in pain. Staff and friends rushed to her aid, and she was later arrested for assault.

Nicolas Malvagna was arrested for assault, and the charge was upgraded to a felony because the phone was used as a weapon. Bebe eventually returned to the stage on June 20, joking about the incident before performing her 2016 hit ‘In the Name of Love’.

Bebe Rexha’s experience highlights the issue of body shaming and the impact that negative comments can have, especially on individuals in the public eye. Her openness about her struggles with body image and health issues shows the importance of understanding that weight gain can be a complex issue and that assumptions should not be made without knowing the full story.

Bebe Rexha’s message is clear: body shaming and negative comments about weight gain are hurtful and unnecessary. It is important to understand that weight fluctuations are a part of life, and there could be several reasons behind them. Bebe’s courage and honesty serve as a reminder that we should always be kind and understanding towards others and not make assumptions based on their appearance.
