Angela Scanlon Reflects on Her Time on Strictly Come Dancing

Angela Scanlon’s journey on Strictly Come Dancing came to an end on Sunday night when she faced Layton Williams in the dance-off. Although the judges were divided on who should leave, Layton ultimately emerged as the winner. In the aftermath of her departure, Angela took to Instagram to share her thoughts and emotions about the experience.

“When I signed up to do Strictly, I had high hopes of leaving the show with an arse like Kim Kardashian and a few killer dance moves for family weddings,” Angela confessed in her post. However, she soon realized that the journey would be much more challenging than anticipated. As a recovering perfectionist, Angela found it hard to perform in front of millions with no control over the outcome. She also had to face criticism and constantly push herself to improve week after week.

Despite the difficulties, Angela expressed her gratitude for her dance partner, Carlos Gu. She spoke fondly of their journey together, highlighting the belief, faith, laughter, and support they shared. Angela described their partnership as an unexpected and precious gift. She emphasized the deep connection they formed and the comfort she felt when dancing with Carlos. Their time on the show may have been cut short, but Angela cherishes the bond they created.

Following Angela’s elimination, fans took to social media to express their opinions about the bottom two couples and who should have stayed on the show. However, there was no clear consensus among viewers. Some fans praised Angela’s performances and expressed sadness over her departure, while others were delighted that Layton was saved. The judges also struggled to make a unanimous decision, with each of them providing their own perspective on the dance-off.

In the second round of the dance-off, Layton and his dance partner, Nikita Kuzmin, performed their American Smooth once again. The judges then had to decide who should stay and who should go. Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Layton and Nikita, citing their technical skills and his personal enjoyment of their performance. Motsi Mabuse based her decision on musicality and balance, leading her to choose Layton and Nikita as well. Anton Du Beke noted the errors in both performances but ultimately voted to keep Layton and Nikita in the competition. Despite the majority vote in favor of Layton, head judge Shirley Ballas disagreed and stated that she would have saved Angela and Carlos.

During her exit interview, Angela expressed her deep gratitude for the entire Strictly Come Dancing experience. She described it as an incredible and magical journey, filled with wonderful people. Although she was disappointed to leave, Angela acknowledged the personal growth and unexpected joys she experienced during her time on the show. She promised to share more reflections and express her appreciation for everyone involved in the future.

Angela Scanlon’s time on Strictly Come Dancing may have ended sooner than she had hoped, but it was a transformative experience nonetheless. From the challenges of performing without control to the unexpected connections and support she found, Angela’s journey was a rollercoaster of emotions. Her departure may have divided fans and judges, but it is clear that she left a lasting impact on the show. As Angela moves forward, she will continue to cherish the memories and lessons learned from her time on Strictly.
