AMC Studios has announced that the second season of Dark Winds, based on Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee book series, will premiere on Sunday, July 30th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC. The series will consist of six episodes, with new episodes airing weekly on Sundays. Episodes will also be available early on AMC+ starting Thursday, July 27th, with new episodes releasing every Thursday.
The show stars Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon, and Jessica Matten, with A Martinez and Joseph Runningfox joining the cast for the second season. Deanna Allison and Elva Guerra will also return to reprise their roles from the previous season. Jeri Ryan and Nicholas Logan will be new additions to the cast.
The second season sees Lt. Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee reuniting to pursue the same suspect in the high desert of Navajo Country. With the help of Sgt. Manuelito and Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena, they must thwart their would-be assassin and restore balance to their own lives and the reservation that depends on them.
Dark Winds is created by Graham Roland and executive produced by Roland, John Wirth, McClarnon, Robert Redford, George R.R. Martin, Anne Hillerman, Chris Eyre, Vince Gerardis, and Tina Elmo. Viewers who missed the first season can catch up on AMC+. Episode 101 is also available to watch for free on the AMC+ YouTube channel.
