The Taormina Film Festival will see the launch of Bella Thorne’s directorial debut short film, Paint Her Red, and the attendance of supermodel Adriana Lima. Lima is set to launch FIFA: A Love Letter to Rwanda, a short film that showcases Rwandan culture, its emerging fashion industry, and touristic biodiversity. The film was shot in Rwanda, a post-genocide country that has become an example of resilience.
FIFA: A Love Letter to Rwanda offers insights on FIFA and its president, Gianni Infantino, during their 2023 annual Congress in Kigali, Rwanda, which will be the first-ever host city of a FIFA elective congress in Africa. Adriana Lima, FIFA Global Fan ambassador, is the guide to the showcase, and the film was produced by Andre L III and directed by Craig Goodwill.
A Showcase of Influential Shorts
Bella Thorne, who curated the “Influential Shorts” evening, invited Adriana Lima to attend the festival and present her short film. Thorne stated that she wanted to invite Lima and her short film as it offers a unique perspective on a country in its post-healing phase and an organization that she wants to know more about.
Barrett Wissman, the Taormina Festival executive and co-artistic director, expressed his excitement over having both Adriana Lima and Gianni Infantino attend the screening as part of the “Influential Shorts” evening. He believes it is a significant milestone for the Taormina Film Festival and showcases the impactful short film produced by Lima and Infantino.
Alongside FIFA: A Love Letter to Rwanda, the “Influential Shorts” evening will feature other short films directed by and/or starring Khaby Lame, Nina Dobrev, and Jacqueline Fernandes. The Taormina Film Festival will take place on June 27th, and attendees can expect a showcase of influential and impactful short films.
