A New Era: Super Team Canada Takes Flight

In an exciting turn of events, Will Arnett’s production house, Electric Avenue, is joining forces with Thunderbird Entertainment’s Atomic Cartoons and Crave, Bell Media’s streaming platform, to co-produce an animated show called Super Team Canada. This ten-episode, half-hour animated comedy, set to premiere in 2025, marks Crave’s venture into adult animation. Created by Robert Cohen and Joel H. Cohen, the masterminds behind The Big Bang Theory and The Simpsons, this series promises to take viewers on a thrilling journey with a group of underdog Canadian superheroes fighting against evil forces.

Super Team Canada will center around six little-known Canadian superheroes who unite to save the world from various threats, including evil giant robots, an unemployed octopus, and needy hardware store clerks. These stereotypically underdog characters become Earth’s last hope after all other superheroes have been eliminated. While the details of the voice cast remain a mystery, fans eagerly anticipate the possibility of Arnett returning to his superhero roots after voicing Batman in the Lego movies and the iconic Bojack Horseman on Netflix.

Heading the production team is showrunner Robert Cohen, who not only co-created the series but also serves as an executive producer alongside Joel H. Cohen. Jennifer Twiner McCarron from Atomic/Thunderbird, Matthew Berkowitz, and Kristin Cummings are also on board as executive producers. Will Arnett and Marc Forman bring their expertise from Electric Avenue, while Thunderbird Distribution and Brands hold global media and consumer product rights. The collective effort and talent behind Super Team Canada promise to deliver an exceptional viewing experience.

Crave, known for its highly successful original comedies like Letterkenny and Shoresy, is venturing into the world of animated comedy for the first time with Super Team Canada. Justin Stockman, Vice President of Content Development and Programming at Crave, expressed his excitement over Crave’s dedication to supporting Canadian original comedies. He stated, “With its sharp wit and clever Canadian-isms, Super Team Canada will fit right in.” This animated series represents an exciting new addition to Crave’s repertoire and showcases their commitment to diversifying their content offerings.

The collaboration between Will Arnett, Robert and Joel H. Cohen, Thunderbird Entertainment, and Electric Avenue is a testament to the brilliant minds coming together for Super Team Canada. Electric Avenue, already known for its impressive lineup of productions such as Twisted Metal, Snake Oil, and Murderville, continues to make its mark in the industry with this exciting venture. Thunderbird Entertainment’s Atomic Cartoons, based in Vancouver, brings their experience from shows like Max series Young Love and collaborations with streaming giants like Netflix, Disney+, and Peacock. Together, these production powerhouses are set to create an animated sensation that will captivate audiences.

Super Team Canada signifies a new era for Crave as they venture into the world of adult animation, supported by an exceptional lineup of creators, producers, and production companies. This highly anticipated series promises to offer a fresh take on superheroes, with a uniquely Canadian twist. As we eagerly await the release in 2025, Super Team Canada’s arrival is set to usher in an exciting wave of entertainment for viewers around the world.
